Making of Javantea's Fate 340

I'm pretty tired. I fell asleep before dinner tonight. My friend called and woke me up late, so I've been working on interesting stuff. I got midi to work in Linux, finally. I've written everything down so that others may walk the trail I have blazed. My trail is so new, it just came out weeks ago in the 2.6.3 patch. Support for emu10k1 asfxload was added. Of course, it was possible to get midi using sfxload, but this is really something new. So I listened to my old list of midis tonight. But just last night I told you that listening to other people's midis is not the purpose of my midi adventure. So I thought about how I can use midi to my advantage. Takashi Iwai's virtual keyboard will be my first experiment. I will connect it to aseqview so that I can view what is going on when I press the keys.

Making of Javantea's Fate 339

Greetings. I guess it's just another day. I spent a bunch of the day working on midi. Yes, midi. Many people may ask: "Why does a person want midi when there's mp3 and even ogg?" Back in the day I totally fell in love with midi. Midi was my mp3 back in the day. I had reaper.mid (given to me by a friend over IRC if you can imagine) and brikwall.mid. A whole list of midis in fact. I still have them (2 MB) right there next to my 6 GB ogg/mp3 collection (all legal if you are wondering). The thing about midi today is not the same as mp3 today. Mp3/Ogg today is about getting some music or distributing your music.

Making of Javantea's Fate 338

I fixed a few bugs in Hack Mars this week. I'm happy that I'm able to work at 200% for the last few days. I've slept 8 hours and worked 16 hours Wed and Thurs. Today, I will go to the 2600 meeting at 5, but only because it's terribly important. In fact, I might as well call it work since hacking is a vital part of my job (the first word in the title of my game is 'hack', don'cha know).

Superheroes

Surprise! Today I will talk a bit about superheros. Perhaps you aren't interested, but allow me to indulge myself. What classifies a superhero? Is any person who does something good a superhero? No. Are superheros just fictional? No. So what characteristics do superheros have that make them superheros instead of salarymen/women? Usually superheros save lives. How do they save lives? By conqueoring evil. Now we're getting somewhere interesting. So imagine a city without evil, could a superhero exist? Could a superhero save lives without evil putting lives in danger? Yes, many people die unnaturally without any evil force working. Or perhaps there is an force that isn't so much evil but misunderstood. Or maybe there's just a ticking timebomb inside of every person which is evil that the superhero must stop to save lives. Does a person who notices instability in a person and comforts them with soothing words become a superhero? Not likely. But if this person did this more than once, it wouldn't be a coincidence, but a planned action. Would that person be a superhero?
